Apprenticeship as Licensed Geriatric Nurse
Licensed Geriatric Nurses are dedicated to the care, nurturing and support of elderly people and their respective needs for assistance. The aim of this type of care is to gain an insight into where elderly people need help and to provide them with good support during their last phase of life.
We offer:
- An apprenticeship with a practice position in the outpatient and inpatient facilities of our Foundation as well as,
- A theoretical education at the vocational school in Elbingerode ,
- An apprenticeship allowance according to AVRR,
- a priority interest in a permanent position and further professional development, upon successful completion of the apprenticeship,
- the possibility of a voluntary position before the apprenticeship, in order to get to know the work area before applying.
During your apprenticeship, you will attend the Vocational School in Elbingerode. There you will be trained in different fields of study.
The practical work takes place in the different institutions of our Foundation:
- inpatient nursing facility
- outpatient nursing service
- semi-stationary day care
The apprenticeship extends over three years, and will be completed with an exam. The apprenticeship may also be shortened upon request.
The apprenticeship is completed according tot he training and examination regulations with:
- written exams
- a practical final exam
- oral final exams
After successfully completing the training, you are entitled to bear the title „Licensed Geriatric Nurse.“
Your application requirements for the apprenticeship are fulfilled with a General Certificate of Secondary Education, or a Certificate of Secondary Education with a successfully completed Geriatric Care Assistant apprenticeship or a successful certificate in another profession.
