Evangelical Protestant Elementary School Ilsenburg

The Evangelical Protestant Elementary School Ilsenburg has been a state-recognized, single-class elementary school since 2013, with a current capacity of 80 students. Our class size is 20 students in grades 1-4. The school operaters under the legal requirements for operational hours of the state of Saxony-Anhalt.

With good nearby bus and train connections, the school is easily accessible. Children from the villages of Darlingerode, Drübeck, Wernigerode, and Elbingerode, as well as Veckenstedt, Wasserleben, Langeln, Stapelburg and Abbenrode use bus transportation, and are accompanied by our teaching staff after school is out until the departure of the bus. Children from the area of Bad Harzburg to Goslar use taxi or train transport. The organization of transportation to and from school is left to the discretion of the parents.

We see ourselves as learning companions for your children, and place high importance on individual attention, reliability, and clear rules, which teach the children safely and helps to strengthen self-confidence. Every child is accepted by us in her or his own uniqueness.

Throughout the course of everyday school life, we place importance on Christian values and norms, communicated through human interaction.
Classes are offered according to the schedule of the state of Saxony-Anhalt, and take place from 8:00 am – 2:00 pm.

In our school, there is the option of singing in choir. Additionally, flute and guitar lessons are offered after school, all made possible by our music teacher. A handiwork club also meets weekly.

In order to strengthen reading and math skills, tutors are available during school hours.

A close partnership exists with the House of Evening Blessing, the local parish, and the Ilsenburg Public Library.

The school building is not fully accessible.

Church affiliation is not required for admission to the Evangelical Lutheran oder Protestant Elementary School Ilsenburg. There is a school fee, but financial aid is available. All students start each Monday together with Devotions. This can include short skits to invite everyone to reflect on his or her own actions.

Homework supervision takes place daily from 1:00-2:00 pm for children at the school entrance phase. For third- and fourth-grade students, this option is available twice a week.

Free time is made possible through an After-School Care program in cooperation with the state of Saxony-Anhalt. Students can use After-School Care from 6:00-8:00a, and from 2:00-5:00p here in our building.
