Specialist psychiatric hospital "Hildegard von Bingen"

The Protestant Specialist Hospital for Psychiatry "Hildegard von Bingen" provides 40 inpatient places for mentally ill and addicted patients from a supra-regional catchment area. The manageable size of the specialist hospital makes an individual and very personal treatment setting possible.

Inpatient treatment makes sense if the patient needs relief from the demands and conflicts of everyday life in a protected environment. All illnesses that can be treated on an outpatient or day clinic basis can also be treated on an inpatient basis in our specialist hospital.

As a rule, inpatient admission is planned after referral by the general practitioner or specialist or the psychiatric outpatient clinic.

Inpatient treatment is not possible if, as a result of aggressive self or external behavior or a lack of willingness to undergo treatment, closed compulsory treatment must take place in accordance with a court order.

The following mental illnesses in adults are treated at the specialist hospital:

• Depression
• Adjustment disorders in psychosocial conflict situations
• Stress reactions after traumatizing events
• anxiety disorders
• Obsessive-compulsive disorders
• Somatoform disorders
• Eating disorders due to other psychological conflict situations
• Personality disorders
• Addictive disorders
• Dementia
• Behavioral disorders in people with learning and mental disabilities

Admission management

For treatment in our clinic, you will need a hospital referral form from your family doctor or a specialist. Patients with addictions should be registered through an addiction counseling center, which will also provide follow-up care.

You will need to bring

• Referral certificate from your family doctor or treating specialist and
• chip card
• Swimsuit
• Sports kit (change of shoes)
• Medication to be taken, except medication subject to the Narcotics Act
• Findings from previous hospital stays / family doctor or specialist

Emergency treatment takes place when the emergency medical service or the emergency doctor associated with the ambulance service determines an urgent need for treatment.

Compulsory psychiatric treatment in accordance with the Psychiatric Hospital Act of Saxony-Anhalt cannot take place in our clinic.

The costs of indicated hospital treatment are borne by the relevant health insurance fund or the responsible social insurance provider. The co-payment for hospital treatment complies with the applicable statutory provisions.

Discharge management

Discharge from full or partial inpatient treatment is coordinated with the involvement of various professional groups, such as doctors, psychological psychotherapists and social services.
The time of your discharge is determined by the attending physician, taking into account your needs and wishes as well as the course of your illness.

For patients with statutory health insurance, the framework agreement on discharge management in accordance with Section 39 (1a) sentence 9 SGB V will come into force on October 1, 2017.
