House by the pond

Haus am Teich is a residential facility for people with a mental disability. Adults between the ages of 32 and 78 who suffer from a chronic mental illness currently live here. Outpatient or partial inpatient treatment is not sufficient for them and they therefore require intensive support, care and a fixed daily structure around the clock. They can continue to maintain their previous contacts and social relationships and, in the medium or long term, strive to live in their own environment again.

The in-house occupational therapy on site, measures to accompany everyday life, relaxation and concentration training, light and music therapies as well as conversation offers provide the residents with a good range of care services in order to achieve the highest possible level of improvement in quality of life, independence in living and coping with everyday life.

The property is situated on the outskirts of Ballenstedt in a quiet location by the forest and offers opportunities for gardening, keeping animals, sporting activities and other leisure activities.

The residential program includes the following support services:

• Occupational therapy: working with media/PC, working with wood, working with clay, gardening, various other material techniques
• Training in practical life skills (cooking, shopping, laundry)
• Measures to accompany everyday life
• Relaxation and concentration training
• Light and music therapies
• Conversation programs
• Health promotion and maintenance, e.g. carrying out medical or therapeutic prescriptions, arranging and carrying out medical appointments, observing and monitoring the state of health
• Support with the organization of living together in the community
• Advice and help with social problems
• Leisure activities (day trips, visits to the cinema or theater, bowling, hiking, swimming, horseback riding, joint vacation trips, etc.)
  

The residential offer is located on the outskirts of Ballenstadt in a quiet location facing the forest. The center of the historically significant town on the northern edge of the Harz Mountains can be easily reached on foot in around 15 minutes, and Quedlinburg, 15 kilometers away, can be explored using the local public transport network.
