House Emmaus

Haus Emmaus is a place to live for 48 adult men and women aged 18 and over with intellectual and multiple disabilities. The modern building with large, bright and friendly rooms was opened in November 2015 in a central location in Blankenburg. There are special shared apartments for young and older residents, where they can create their own personal way of living and working. Single rooms, apartments, communal rooms, work rooms and therapy rooms are available for this purpose. Wheelchair users will find the necessary technical support here and can enjoy freedom of movement.

Medical care in the form of visits and external therapies such as occupational therapy and speech therapy are offered in the home.

Depending on their individual needs, residents can choose from the following day structure offers:

The day structure offers orientation and a variety of opportunities for work, occupation and self-realization.

The work throughout the home is based on the aspect of assisted communication and integrates pictograms, gestures and photos into structural plans and daily routines.

A sheltered inner courtyard with old and new trees and open planting offers space for communal encounters, gardening activities, quiet corners and a wonderful place to celebrate. The Garden of the Senses features a tactile trail, an adventure path, a sound tree and raised beds with various beautiful plants that become a feast for the senses. Everyone is invited here to experience and enjoy the fullness of life.
